what do you do with the banana chips???

Banana chips are in the crust. It makes it lighter, than just nuts and dates.

Are all the filling ingredients blended together? The recipe calls for some chopped and some whole pecans, but then all are just blended. Are the whole ones arranged on the top?

Yes, save the whole pecans to decorate the top of the pie.

Can agave be used instead of honey or dates?

I am under the impression that banana "chips" are very crunchy because they have been cooked by frying. I used to eat them as a snack many years ago. These to me are not simple raw dehydrated bananas.
Please clarify what you mean by banana "chips", thanks-rachel

We are referring to raw dehydrated banana chips which I make myself as a snack. They are not as crunchy as ones that are fried, but work great in the crust and as a snack.
