How to Make Elderberry Tea

By Helen Rose

I got a little creative with this tea by adding some spices, but feel free to keep it simple and just use the elderberries, they are naturally sweet on their own.  If you feel you need to strengthen your immune system, try adding some warming herbs into your tea mix such as cinnamon, ginger or even turmeric
as I did in the recipe below.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Simply place 16 ounces of water and two tablespoons of dried elderberries into a small pot.
  2. Add in 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder and bring to a boil.  (Optional you can add 1/4 t turmeric powder.)
  3. Reduce heat, then let simmer for about 15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let your tea mix sit for a few minutes.
  5. Strain into a fins mesh strainer and pour into cups.
  6. If you prefer a sweeter tea, add in a sweetener of your choice such as honey or stevia.
